Wine Calories – The Real Facts
Wine calories always are a hot subject for conversation, especially with all of the current Mediterranean diets available and red wines resveratrol links to more healthy hearts and slimmer waistlines.
One of the main questions forever asked about wine and health is always “how many calories in a glass of wine?”
Well red wines usually have marginally reduced amounts of sugar content than white wines. So if you are strictly comparing red to white, the calories in red wines will usually be marginally less than those in a glass of white wine.
Although, most diet graphs arent too concerned on residual sugar statistics and say that both red and white wines have on average 25 calories in each ounce of wine.
Just like all other elements of calorie-counting, it’s the portion measurement that actually counts. So based on the fact that most wine glasses have five-six ounces of wine in them this makes glass of wine more like 125-150 calories per glass.
So next time you open a really good red wine you’ll know what calories are in each enjoyable glass, or bottle!
